Florida Karate Academy Athletes Earn 13 Medals at 2026 WUKF World Karate Championships
Florida Karate Academy is proud to celebrate the accomplishments of five of its athletes who represented the AAU USA National Karate Team at the 2026 WUKF World Karate Championships in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, from July 22 through July 26.
Paul Hebig, Nahlia Hebig, Jaiya Hebig, Nathan Ministre, and John Paul Ministre competed on the international stage as members of the AAU USA National Karate Team. Together, the five Florida Karate Academy athletes earned 13 medals across individual and team events.
The AAU USA National Karate Team also finished second in the overall medal count behind host country Romania.
Five Florida Karate Academy Athletes Represent Team USA
Competing at a world championship is a significant achievement for any martial artist. For these five FKA athletes, the 2026 WUKF World Karate Championships provided an opportunity to test their skills and preparation against competitors from around the world.
Florida Karate Academy’s AAU Karate Team competes at state, national, and international tournaments, giving dedicated athletes opportunities to continue developing their skills through competition.
Parents Nalini Singh and Fritz Ministre also attended the championships as chaperones, providing support to the athletes throughout the international event.
Nahlia Hebig Earns Two Bronze Medals
Nahlia Hebig represented the AAU USA National Karate Team at the 2026 WUKF World Karate Championships and earned two bronze medals.
Her results included:
- Bronze in Team Kumite
- Bronze in Rotational Kumite
Nahlia’s performance contributed to the 13-medal total earned by Florida Karate Academy athletes at the championship.
Jaiya Hebig Wins Four Medals
Jaiya Hebig delivered a strong performance across individual and team events, earning four medals at the world championships.
Her results included:
- Silver in Ippon Kumite
- Bronze in Kata
- Bronze in Team Kumite
- Bronze in Rotational Kumite
Jaiya’s four-medal performance added significantly to Florida Karate Academy’s overall results in Cluj-Napoca.
Nathan Ministre Wins Gold in Kata
Nathan Ministre also brought home four medals from the 2026 WUKF World Karate Championships, including a gold medal in Kata.
His results were:
- Gold in Kata
- Bronze in Kumite
- Bronze in Team Kumite
- Bronze in Rotational Kumite
Nathan’s gold-medal performance in Kata was one of several championship victories earned by FKA athletes during the competition.
John Paul Ministre Earns Two Gold Medals
John Paul Ministre earned four medals across individual and team events at the 2026 WUKF World Karate Championships.
His results included:
- Gold in Ippon Kumite
- Gold in Team Kumite
- Silver in Kata
- Bronze in Rotational Kumite
His two gold medals, along with his silver and bronze medals, made a significant contribution to the 13-medal total earned by FKA athletes.
Paul Hebig Competes at the World Championships
Paul Hebig also represented the AAU USA National Karate Team at the 2026 WUKF World Karate Championships.
Although Paul did not medal at this year’s competition, his participation gave him valuable experience competing on an international stage while representing both Team USA and Florida Karate Academy.
FKA’s competitive program provides dedicated athletes with opportunities to compete at major events while continuing to develop their technical skills, discipline, sportsmanship, and competitive experience.
