Positions Held

In addition to his duties as head instructor of Florida Karate Academy, Sensei Roth have served as the Shorin-ryu Technical Director for the Traditional Karate Organization. He has also served as the Region Four Director of the AAU-USA National Karate Program, as a Team Coach for the AAU-USA National Karate Team, and as an International Referee for the World Union of Karate-do Federations.

Honors Received

In 2003, Sensei Roth was honored as the AAU-USA National Coach of the Year. In 2007, he received the Amateur Athletic Union's President's Leadership Award for service to the AAU-USA National Karate Program. In 2003, he was awarded the title Renshi by the International Seibukan Karate Association. In 2022, he was awarded the title, Kyoshi, by the Shuri-Te Bujutsu-Kai.

Sensei Dave Roth

Our head instructor, Dave Roth, has more than 40 years experience studying and teaching martial arts. A graduate of the University of Florida, he earned a degree in Business Administration in 1986. He holds black belts in 8 different martial arts, including karate, jujitsu, judo, kobudo, arnis, and close-quarter combat. Sensei Roth has used this extensive background to create the unique integrated curriculum that has made FKA one of the finest martial-arts academies in the world.

Sensei Roth has achieved the levels of 7th-degree black belt in Shorin-ryu Karate, 4th-degree black belt in Okinawan Kobudo, 3rd-degree black belt in Wado-ryu Karate, 3rd-degree black belt in Hand-to-Hand Combat, 3rd-degree black belt in Toyama-ryu Battodo, 2nd-degree black belt in Niseido Jujitsu, Guro in Garimot Arnis Training, and 1st -degree black belt in Judo.
